Recently, Professor Song Malin's team published a theoretical article entitled Growth Mode Change and the Source of China's Green Economy Growth - Multi-Sector Accounting Framework Based on Heterogeneous Production Function in the 7th issue of Economic Research in 2021, and promoted it as the cover article of the issue.

In this paper, human capital and energy factors are included in the production function, and economic growth is decomposed into departmental green productivity improvement, inter-departmental factor allocation efficiency improvement and factor endowment accumulation by using the multi-sector accounting framework, and heterogeneous growth paths are introduced according to the similarity of regional real output value conditions distribution, thus re-estimating the source of China's green economy growth. Based on the three provincial industry data from 2001 to 2015, the results show that: first, there are differentiated production functions within the industry, rejecting the traditional assumption that all provinces follow the same growth path, and the growth path has undergone pattern changes over time; Second, the main driving factor of China's green economy growth is the accumulation of factor endowments, followed by the improvement of inter-departmental factor allocation efficiency. The decline in the growth rate of both is the fundamental reason for China's economy to enter the new normal stage after 2011. Third, ignoring growth path heterogeneity will underestimate the contribution rate of factor endowment accumulation and overestimate the contribution rate of inter-departmental factor allocation efficiency. The research conclusion shows that improving the efficiency of capital investment and overcoming factor market distortions are the key to maintaining the sustainable growth of China's green economy, which has important policy implications for the work of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.

This paper is another high-level and landmark research achievement after the Environmental Regulation, Technological Progress and Economic Growth and Local Protection, Resource Mismatch and Environmental Welfare Performance published by the Song Malin team in the Economic Research in the 3rd issue of 2013 and the 12th issue of 2016, and is also an important reflection of the scientific research strength and academic level of our university.
